Darnell Furlong’s verdict on Cardiff draw

DF

Darnell Furlong has urged Albion to “stay on the right path” and to carry on “doing the right things”.

The Baggies were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Cardiff City at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night, a result which means they are still searching for their first victory of the Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Furlong admits he and his team-mates are “gutted” they’re yet to collect three points in a match, but stressed the importance of not losing confidence.

He said: “Things just don’t seem to be going our way at the moment and perhaps we’re not getting what our performances have deserved.

“We’re gutted we haven’t won a game yet. There aren’t many points on the board, however, we can take positives from how we are playing.

“There’s a message that keeps on going around which is telling us that if we keep on doing the right things then results will come.

“It’s just frustrating that they haven’t.

“Teams come here and they know what to do. They try and slow the game down and take our momentum away from us.

“It’s tough for us sometimes, but we need to make sure we stay on the right path and keep on doing the right things.

“We don’t care how the goals or the wins come at the moment. I’d take three deflections or three scrappy goals.

“We need to keep creating chances and build off our first clean sheet of the season.

“The good thing is we have another game so soon. The game against Hull on Saturday is a chance to get our season going.”
