Albion lost 1-0 to Charlton Athletic in a Sky Bet Championship clash on Tuesday evening.
Sonny Carey’s stoppage time strike earned the Addicks all three points at the Valley Stadium.
The Baggies began brightly - but Karlan Grant and Isaac Price both failed to convert and Sam Iling-Junior half-volleyed the best opportunity off-target.
Charlton, meanwhile, did not test Griffiths until they were awarded a penalty when the referee judged Ousmane Diakite to have handballed in the box. Addicks captain Docherty stepped up, yet found Albion’s shot-stopper in his way - a superb diving save keeping the scoreline level.
Price was given another chance before the break when he raced through down the right. However, he hit his finish past the far post, leaving the game finely poised at half-time.
Mason’s men started well again after the restart - Iling-Junior curling one wide and Price racing into the area moments later, only to be denied by Thomas Kaminski.
Down the other end, Griffiths cleverly kept out a dipping Carey attempt, while Miles Leaburn couldn’t quite divert a header towards the Albion net.
The hosts did grab a winner in the 96th minute, though, via Carey’s long-range, deflected goal, leaving the Baggies without a point to show for their efforts.
