Carlos Corberán’s post-match QPR verdict

Carlos Corberán is interviewed after Albion's win at QPR

Carlos Corberán believes Albion’s victory at QPR on Saturday afternoon is a result of really hard, committed work paying off.

The Baggies battled to a narrow 1-0 triumph at Loftus Road, a scoreline which confirmed consecutive Sky Bet Championship triumphs for the first time this season.

Kyle Bartley scored the only goal of the game with just over 20 minutes to go, and the boss thinks it was a performance which the supporters will have been proud of.

Carlos said: “It was really important for us to reinforce Tuesday’s win with another positive result here today.

“It’s great for the players to earn another win because they are working really hard every day and they are showing complete commitment.

“When you have a positive result you always want to back it up with another one and we’re really pleased to have been able to do that today.

“QPR haven’t lost at home here since mid-August and that shows that they’ve been doing many good things, so we knew how difficult today could be.

“However, at the same time, we knew what our own possibilities were and I think the players’ hard work has certainly paid off.

“It’s so important that the team knows how to take on different aspects of the game and to score different types of goals.

“You have to create chances to score goals and in terms of set-pieces, we have good free-kick and corner takers and we have some really powerful players in the air.

“Hopefully we can score more goals from set-pieces going forward.

“Defending well is so crucial in football. As we know, it’s half of the reason why teams get positive results, by keeping clean sheets. A good defensive display helps the team stay in the game and then you’re hopeful you can get chances to win it.

“We showed a resilience today at the back and throughout the team. We managed to find a balance, but we had to suffer together at times to make sure we got a positive result.

“The best thing we can do for the supporters is what we did today and show them that every player is fighting for the shirt.

“I think the fans will be proud of that performance today. We’ve been working a lot to make sure we can create this winning feeling for them.”
