Carlos Corberán reacts to convincing Stoke City triumph

Carlos Corberán is interviewed following Albion's win over Stoke

Carlos Corberán described Albion’s impressive performance against Stoke City as one which displayed plenty of “personality”.

The Baggies dominated throughout the 90 minutes at The Hawthorns and claimed a third successive Sky Bet Championship victory thanks to Kyle Bartley’s header and Brandon Thomas-Asante’s simply stunning acrobatic effort.

Corberán says his team knew just how important the clash with the Potters was ahead of the month-long break owing to the FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar, and the boss was delighted to see the Baggies deliver another big three points.

He said: “I was watching a team today which looked very solid and played with a lot of personality.

“I have to give a lot of credit to players because they all showed so much commitment throughout the game.

“Today was a really important one for us because we had the opportunity to win three consecutive matches, something which we haven’t done yet this season.

“It was also a special game because we understood the situation in terms of having the next month without a match, so we knew how crucial three points would be.

“We played for 90 minutes with a high level of determination, concentration and energy. We tried to not waste a single moment of the game and I’m really pleased we have performed well and won three more points.

“It’s important to manage the different situations in attack and defence. We know we have players with really good deliveries on them and players who can attack set-pieces really well.

“It was another good ball from John Swift and another great header from Kyle Bartley.

“Brandon is a player that when good things happen to him, you are going to be happy for him. He has worked very hard to be here, moving from League Two. He’s hard-working, has a great mentality and he's showing that he can help the team a lot on the pitch.

“Players have to compete to win football games. I saw all of my players competing today and that’s the most pleasing thing.”
