Albion Women were beaten by Derby County at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.

The Baggies struggled to create any guilt-edged opportunities, leaving Yasmin Mason and Rebecca May to score for the visitors, and put the game beyond doubt.

Siobhan Hodgetts-Still kept an unchanged team from the side that beat Liverpool Feds, but despite that, they couldn’t continue the late momentum they created in the previous match.

It was a patchy start from the home side at the Shrine. Visiting forward May came the closest as she tried her luck twice in the opening stages, firstly arrowing a long-range effort wide, then stinging the gloves of Charlotte Clarke, who was equal to the invitation to shoot.

Defender Izzy Green had an opportunity to give the Baggies the lead as the half ticked on, when the ball dropped at her boot from a corner - but she could only steer her strike over the bar. Monique Robinson’s free-kick also met the same fate in added time.

The visitors again started the half quicker and this time got their reward in the form of the opener. Defender Mason stepped onto a loose clearance to drill a deflected effort past the helpless Clarke - leaving Albion with a mountain to climb heading into the final stages.

Taylor Reynolds turned a close-range chance just past the post afterwards, but otherwise, the Baggies couldn’t get into any real rhythm, and May added a visiting second just minutes from time.
