Albion Women were beaten 1-0 at home by Stoke City in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division on Sunday.
Head Coach Jenny Sugarman made one change to the side that earned a draw with Brighouse Town last weekend, recalling skipper Hannah George into the starting XI for Hayley Crackle.
Little separated the two teams in the first half. Kelsey Richardson created the opening chance for the visitors, forcing Charlotte Clarke into a smart save, before Albion's Phoebe Warner then produced a twisting run and saw her effort go narrowly wide of the post.
The Baggies' best opportunity came just after the restart when a lovely flick from Kerry Walklett was played into the path of Shannon Stamps - but Albion's No.17 was beaten to the ball by Stoke's keeper Liz Hobson, denying the winger from diverting the ball home.
Stoke took the lead on the hour mark, though. Abby Hunt flicked the ball, via an acrobatic back-heel, past the Albion defence and into the path of Roisin Kivel, who took aim from range and looped it over Clarke.
Stamps almost found an immediate equaliser just a few minutes later, rattling the crossbar with a long range effort, however ultimately Albion were unable to break the Potters' resistance.
Next up, Sugarman's Baggies travel to Wolves for the first Black Country derby of the season on Wednesday.
