The opposition
Swansea City will arrive in the West Midlands on Saturday afternoon determined to halt a six-match winless run.
The Swans, who sit just a couple of places above the danger zone, have lost their last four fixtures, including Tuesday's tussle at home to Derby County.
That 2-1 defeat to the Rams was the first game in charge for new boss Vitor Matos and the former Liverpool coach will want an immediate reaction from his players at The Hawthorns.
This weekend's guests have won just one of their last ten encounters in all competitions, a 2-1 triumph over Norwich City back in late October.
The 2025/26 term is the Swans' eighth consecutive one in the second tier, with the Welsh club finishing in the middle of the pack in all of the last four years.
Matos, 37, is tasked with steering Swansea away from trouble and up into the top half of the division. The Portuguese has also managed Maritimo in his homeland, spending time there between July and November of this year.

Memorable meeting
Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon scored a hat-trick of headers as the Baggies secured a 3-1 win over Swansea City in the Premier League in December 2016.
The forward's treble arrived in 13 second-half minutes, notching his first after 50, his second after 61 and his third just two minutes after that.
Wayne Routledge pulled one back late on for the visitors, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation strike at The Hawthorns.
Supporters can watch the highlights below.
Recent record on home soil against the Swans
Albion 1-0 Swansea City, August 2024
The last head-to-head meeting between the two teams in the West Midlands ended in a narrow victory for the Baggies at the start of the 2024/25 term. Jayson Molumby scored the only goal, slotting home into the bottom corner on the stroke of half time. Supporters can watch the highlights below.
Albion 3-2 Swansea City, August 2023
The Baggies and Swansea City played out a five-goal thriller in what was the first home game of the 2023/24 season. Semi Ajayi scored the opener before an own goal from Swans stopper Carl Rushworth made it 2-0. John Swift's spot-kick added further distance between the clubs, but the visitors did make it interesting towards the end when Harry Darling and Nathan Wood both found the back of the net in front of the Smethwick End.
Albion 2-3 Swansea City, October 2022
Steve Bruce's Baggies suffered a late defeat to the South Wales outfit on the first day of October in 2022. Matthew Sorinola scored after just six minutes for the away side, but the Baggies hit back and turned the game on its head courtesy of efforts from Jake Livermore and Grady Diangana. Olivier Ntcham equalised with 19 minutes remaining, and the Swans went on to win it in the dying stages when Michael Obafemi struck from the edge of the box.
How's that for a stat
Albion are aiming for a third straight home win over the Swans having beaten them 1-0 in August 2024 and 3-2 in August 2023 at The Hawthorns. Check out the highlights of the 3-2 triumph below.
None of the last six meetings between the two teams at The Hawthorns have ended level. Albion have won four and lost two of those six showdowns with the Swans. The last time this fixture ended level in B71 was when the Baggies and Swansea played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League in April 2018.
Only Stoke City (5) have conceded few home goals than Albion (6).
Swansea City have lost four straight games. The last time they suffered five successive defeats was between January and February in 2025.
