The opposition
Sheffield Wednesday have endured a really tough start to the 2025/26 season both on and off the pitch.
The Owls head to The Hawthorns bottom of the Sky Bet Championship and facing a monumental challenge to stay in the second tier following their 12-point deduction as a result of going into administration.
Wednesday fans have rallied around the club and the team, with many seeing the silver lining despite the difficult situation Saturday's visitors find themselves in. Following the news of administration, just shy of 30,000 attended their most recent fixture at Hillsborough against Oxford United - their highest attendance of the term so far, while over £200,000 was taken in sales in the club shop.
Away from the turf, the Owls will hope for new investment and new leadership as soon as possible. On it, they'll be fighting to claw back ground to give themselves a chance of retaining their Championship status.
Henrik Pedersen's side will start November on minus six points, 16 adrift of safety. They've lost eight of their first 12 league matches, winning just once against Portsmouth at Fratton Park in mid-September.
However, the 47-year-old Dane who was Danny Rohl's assistant previously, will hope renewed hope for the future off the pitch will also translate to improved results on it.
Pedersen took over at the end of July and has also worked for Red Bull Ghana and Red Bull Salzburg's youth teams, as well as HB Køge, Union Berlin (assistant), Eintracht Braunchschweig, Strømsgodset and Vendsyssel FF.
Memorable meeting
Robert Koren's cracker from the best part of 30 yards proved to be the difference when the two teams went head-to-head at The Hawthorns in March 2010.
It proved to be an important strike, one which helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League that particular season.

Recent record on home soil against the Owls
Albion 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday, February 2025
The Baggies secured three Sky Bet Championship points against Wednesday in exceptional circumstances last season. Adam Armstrong made it 1-0 with a clever close-range finish with just over 15 minutes remaining, but the Owls equalised in stoppage time through Callum Paterson. Despite the late disappointment, Albion fought back and, incredibly, went up the other end and found a winner when Jayson Molumby squeezed the ball in at the near post following a corner, sparking jubilant scenes in B71. Watch the highlights below.
Albion 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday, October 2023
The hosts claimed a narrow victory over the Owls a few months into the 2023/24 term. John Swift's strike from inside the penalty area after just 13 minutes was enough to give Carlos Corberán's team the win.
Albion 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday, November 2019
Charlie Austin's late penalty sealed an important triumph over the Yorkshire outfit a month before Christmas in the 2019/20 term. Hal Robson-Kanu put the hosts into the lead as early as the tenth minute, but Wednesday levelled the encounter monents before the hour when Steven Fletcher converted a penalty. But the Baggies scored a spot-kick of their own with just two minutes remaining - Austin firing home to give Bilic's boys the win.
How's that for a stat
Albion are six home games unbeaten against Sheffield Wednesday (W4, D2), winning the the last three meetings at The Hawthorns. The last time the Owls won in B71 was back in April 2007 when Deon Burton, now Senior Professional Development Phase Coach at the Baggies, notched the all-important strike.
The Baggies have lost just two of their last 12 matches against Wednesday, with both of those defeats coming at Hillsborough in 2024.
None of the last six head-to-heads have ended level and only two of the last 11 meetings saw both teams claim a point.
Sheffield Wednesday have won just two of their last 24 matches in 90 minutes in all competitions.
