West Bromwich Albion face Oxford United at The Hawthorns in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon (ko 3pm).
The Baggies' were cruelly beaten at Charlton Athletic in midweek, with the hosts scoring the only goal of the contest in the final minute of stoppage time down in the capital city - a result which extended their winless run to four matches.
Visitors Oxford also suffered a setback on Tuesday night, losing 3-0 at home to Stoke City. The U's head to the West Midlands sat one place and four points above the bottom three.

The opposition
Oxford United will be targeting another successful season in the Sky Bet Championship having finished 17th last term after a 25-year absence from the second tier of English football.
The U's ended the 2024/25 campaign four points clear of relegation despite many in the game tipping them for relegation.
Saturday's guests will arrive towards the bottom end of the division, but confident in their ability to take points off some of the more established names in the Championship.
Oxford have drawn with Coventry City, Leicester City, QPR and Millwall, while also securing triumphs over Bristol City, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday so far.
Boss Gary Rowett will no doubt be demanding a decent response to their disappointing 3-0 loss at home to Stoke City a few days ago. The 51-year-old former Burton Albion, Birmingham City, Derby County, Stoke City and Millwall manager took over from Des Buckingham in December last year and has an overall record of 13 wins, 12 draws and 17 defeats from his 42 matches in charge.
Memorable meeting
The Baggies claimed a 2-0 triumph over Oxford at The Hawthorns back in February.
Alex Mowatt's close-range strike put the home team 1-0 up in the opening half before John Swift wrapped up the points in the final minute.
Check out the highlights below.
Recent record on home soil against the U's
Albion 2-0 Oxford United, February 2025
The Baggies picked up three points at The Hawthorns the last time Saturday's visitors came to town. Alex Mowatt's confident finish from inside the box put Albion 1-0 up after just 11 minutes, but Tony Mowbray's team had to wait until second-half stoppage time to wrap up the triumph, with John Swift racing away and slotting into an empty net after Oxford had sent everyone forward to attack a corner kick.
Albion (p) 1-1 Oxford United, August 2014
The hosts squeezed past Oxford United on penalties in the second round of the Capital One Cup at the start of the 2014/15 campaign. John Mullins scored an own goal on the half-hour mark, but the then League Two side equalised with just four minutes remaining courtesy of Danny Hylton. Junior Brown was dismissed deep into extra time, but the Premier League outfit were pushed all the way to penalties. Boaz Myhill proved to be the hero, saving Jake Wright's spot-kick, leaving Australian defender Jason Davidson to step up and seal a 7-6 victory on penalties.
Albion 2-0 Oxford United, March 1999
Albion were triumphant at home to the U's towards the back end of the 1998/99 Division One term. James Quinn's goal meant the home team went in 1-0 up at the break and their position in the encounter was strengthened when Oxford's Joey Beauchamp was sent off just minutes into the second period. Enzo Maresca sealed the win inside the final quarter of the contest.
How's that for a stat
Albion and Oxford United have only met 25 times in competitive fixtures. The Baggies, who are unbeaten in four against the U's, boast the better H2H record with 12 wins to United's five. Eight draws have also been played out.
The Baggies will be desperate to halt a run of four without a win (D1, L3). The last time Albion went five games without tasting victory was during a run of five between March and April earlier this year (D2, L3).
Oxford boss Gary Rowett will be facing West Bromwich Albion for the tenth time as a manager. He's won two, drawn three and lost four of his previous nine clashes against the Baggies.
The U's haven't lost back-to-back games since August when they were beaten at Hull City and then Birmingham City.

Dedicated home remembrance fixture
Albion’s game against Oxford United has been selected as the club’s annual dedicated home remembrance fixture.
The Baggies host The U’s on Saturday and a number of activities are planned to mark the occasion.
Before the match, “Blind Dave” Heeley - in full uniform as His Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant of West Midlands - and three soldiers will lead the teams out through a guard of honour by the Sea Cadets.
All players, staff and fans from both sides are then set to observe a period of silence after the Last Post is played, while each captain will place a wreath in the centre circle.
At the half-time interval, there will be two special presentations. The cap for former player Harold White, who played as Albion’s right-back in the late 1930s and went on to become a member of the SAS, will be given to his daughter.
And “Blind Dave” is also due to present the cap of another ex-Baggie, Harold Bache, to the club. Dave carried the former centre forward’s cap when he cycled the Western Front last year - a story supporters can read more about here.
Finally, a poppy-decorated version of Albion News - the club’s matchday programme - will be available for supporters to purchase at the stadium or online.
Poppy Shirts
Ryan Mason’s men will wear poppy-adorned shirts during their two fixtures against Charlton and Oxford this week.
Both sets will be available for supporters to bid on via Match Worn Shirt here, with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.
