Six members of the Albion squad helped bring some festive joy to the young patients and hard-working staff at the Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital earlier this week.

Club captain Jed Wallace was joined by Alex Mowatt, Mikey Johnston, Jayson Molumby, George Campbell and Josh Griffiths around the wards.

The group handed out gifts provided by The Albion Foundation, posed for pictures and spent time with poorly children - as well as their families, nurses and doctors.

Speaking at the hospital, American defender George Campbell said: "A few of us went down to Midlands Met hospital to visit patients and staff and hand out some toys in time for Christmas.

"We had lots of fun with them on the ward and it was nice to meet everyone. Hopefully they can get back to living a healthy life as soon as possible and get back home in time for Christmas.

"I think it's really important to give back and spend time in the local community, especially at this time of year. We realise we're in a very fortunate position as footballers and to come here and spend time with those who are going through a difficult time and those who are caring for kids who are poorly is something we know is incredibly important.

"The kids will giggle or have smiles on their faces when they see us, and that warms our hearts. Selfishly, it feels good to put smiles on faces, but we know they don't want to be there and they want to be home and healthy. Hopefully that happens in time for Christmas for as many of them as possible."
