Ajayi focused on Saturday’s Swansea showdown

Semi Ajayi says sights are firmly set on securing three points at Swansea as the Baggies take a step-by-step approach to their 10-game Sky Bet Championship run-in.

Slaven Bilić's men return to league action with a trip to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon following Tuesday night’s defeat to Premier League Newcastle United at The Hawthorns in the Emirates FA Cup.

Albion’s clash with play-off-chasing Swansea will be their 37th game in the Championship, with just under two months of the regular season left to be contested.

But Ajayi insists full focus should be on Saturday’s fixture and not the remainder of the campaign as Slaven’s side strive to get back to winning ways after last weekend’s loss to Wigan.

Semi said: “We’re not thinking about how many games are left.

“The focus now is on Swansea and Swansea alone.

“We will be doing all we can to get maximum points against them and then the focus will switch to the next game, as it should do.

“We know it’ll be a tough game but we’ve got to try and do everything we can to get three points on Saturday.

“February on the whole was very good. If you look at the performances as well as the results I think we can be very happy looking back on the month.

“Ideally we would have loved to win last weekend against Wigan to round off the month but that doesn’t change the results we have managed to pick up previously.

“Hopefully we can get back to winning ways on Saturday.”

The Nigerian international, who scored against Saturday's opponents back in December, has played 36 games for Albion so far this season and Ajayi admits he's pleased to have had a prominent role in the side throughout the campaign.

“Every player wants to play every week and get that run of games and know they have got the confidence of their team-mates, the fans and most importantly their manager.

“The fact I have been able to do that so far I am really pleased with.

“I’m just looking to continue to keep working hard to make sure it continues.”
