Slaven Bilic has issued an urgent message to Baggies fans to follow government advice and stay away from The Hawthorns when the action returns on Saturday.
Albion are back to resume their promotion challenge with a derby against Birmingham City but with empty seats around the stadium signalling this new age of “behind closed doors” football.
Slaven knows that fans will be tempted to travel to The Hawthorns even though there will strictly be no access and the Head Coach has recorded a special message urging supporters to stay home, which you can see here on WBA TV.
“You’re the reason why we are where we are and we are doing everything for you,” says Slav.
“I know that you would love to be here to fill the stadium and we would love you to be there because you are giving us the extra ‘thing'.
“But you have to stay safe; you have to respect the rules. So stay home. And make no mistake, you’re going to help us because we will feel you cheering for us.
“Stay safe, stay away from the stadium and give us your strength from your sofas. All the best to you – and know that we are going to do our best to make you happy and pleased again.”
The nine remaining fixtures across the division will be accompanied by a League wide campaign from the EFL promoting the message “When we play, please stay away.”
There have been fresh warnings from the government that fans congregating at stadia could see neutral venues back on the agenda.
All EFL matches are available to view from home, with fixtures being made available through coverage on Sky Sports or, in Albion’s case, the iFollow streaming services. All Albion games not shown on Sky are available for fans to view via iFollow.
