Bilić provides pre-Charlton injury update

Slaven Bilić has confirmed winger Grady Diangana will be part of the travelling squad to face Charlton Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

The Baggies attacker suffered a back injury during the West Midlands derby victory over Birmingham City in December and has missed the last four matches.

Slaven welcomes back Diangana as his side look to get back to winning ways in the league and the Croatian described his importance to Albion’s style of play going forward in games.

“Grady is back and will be in the squad,” revealed Bilić.

“It’s a big boost and it’s never about one player, but everyone has their role that influences the team. Grady going forward is one of the players who makes our attacking play better.”

Despite making his third appearance in the senior side during Sunday’s FA Cup win, Academy graduate Rekeem Harper has picked up a knock recently and will miss out on Saturday’s return to league action.

Albion’s head coach also provided an update on the wellbeing of defenders Nathan Ferguson and Kieran Gibbs.

He added: “Nathan's progressing really well.

“He was on the pitch yesterday and doing everything he can so he should be back again with us in normal training straight after the game against Charlton.

“Kieran’s injury happened at the start of January, so that’s going to be about four or five weeks because it’s the second time that it’s happened and we’re without Rekeem. He picked up a nasty knock, but that’s it.”
