Nathan Ferguson will undergo exploratory knee surgery in the next week which will rule him out of Albion’s immediate Sky Bet Championship schedule.
The surgery was confirmed today by Sporting and Technical Director Luke Dowling.
It follows an issue which came to light when the young defender underwent a medical for a proposed transfer last week.
Speaking for the first time since the proposed transfer broke down, Luke explained: “Nathan will undergo an exploratory operation and we will know more when that has been completed.
“The issue came to light during a medical for a transfer which had only been agreed after the player's agent made it clear to us that he did not wish to take up our contract offer.
“He will continue to be given the best possible care by this Club while we await the outcome of the surgery.”
