Albion Memories Ernie and Ally

As part of World Alzheimer’s Month, Ernie Walker chats to Ally Robertson about his life with dementia and the importance Albion Memories has on his life.

The Club’s dementia group is led by Supporters’ Club Chairman John Homer and supported by The Albion Foundation in partnership with Edward Street Hospital.

The programme uses football, and particularly the club’s heritage and history, to help fans diagnosed with the cruel illness reminisce on times gone by.

Robertson, one’s of the Baggie’s greats, often visits the dementia session, along with other former players to spark participants’ favourite Albion moments.

Ernie stressed the weekly session's power on those who attend.

“What you give back as players, not only you but the other players that come, I can’t describe,” said Ernie.

“It’s meeting you lot, the memories, a light goes on when you’re talking about them.”
