One defeat we don’t mind taking

The Baggies first team swapped their boots for powerchairs to take on Albion Powerchair last week.

Slaven Bilić’s men, who were unbeaten in the league when the game took place, were up against national back-to-back powerchair football champions at their own game as they learned about one of The Albion Foundation’s most successful disability side.

It’s safe to say Slaven’s boys weren’t given an easy ride as they went head-to-head with a powerchair side that boasted four England internationals.

Take a look at the above video to watch the laughter and smiles from both teams flow and enjoy the expert commentary from Kieran Gibbs, Charlie Austin and Jake Livermore!

Fresh off the pitch, Chris Brunt spoke of his admiration for the powerchair prowess Chris Gordon’s men displayed.

“It’s amazing watching the lads doing what they do. It’s an incredible setup they’ve got there and credit to all involved,” he said.

After making his powerchair debut, Romaine Sawyers was full of admiration for his opposition.

“The guys that do it make it look a lot easier than it actually is, but it was good fun,” he said.

Don’t forget, Foundation Day in on Saturday, October 5 with this year’s focus on getting the Foundation a new disability minibus – and you can help them achieve their goal.

Supporters who do not carry cash, or who will not be at the Cardiff game are welcome to donate £1 by texting TAF to 70470. Alternatively, visit the Foundation’s JustGiving page.
