Norwich PL2 v Albion PL2 match report

Albion’s PL2 side put in a dominant performance to take the points from an exciting six-goal encounter in Norfolk.

Nick Clayton-Phillips fired in a brace to put the Baggies two goals ahead, with Rayhaan Tulloch stretching Albion’s advantage shortly after the break.

Goals from Gassan Ahadme and Patrick Roberts gave the Canaries a lifeline, but a late Stanley Asomugha strike secured the spoils for the Throstles.

Albion took the lead after the half-hour mark. Chris Willock cut inside and smashed an effort goalwards, with Archie Mair in the Norwich net pushing the ball into Clayton-Phillips’ path who tucked the rebound into the net with ease.

Shortly after the break, the Baggies went further ahead. Willock whipped a ball into the box and Clayton-Phillips hit a controlled volley which found the corner of the goal.

Albion added to their lead moments later. Azaz hit a long-range pass into the path of Jamie Soule. The Baggies forward controlled the ball and played a pass to Tulloch, who side-footed in a neat strike to score.

Norwich pulled a goal back as Ahadme tapped in a Philip Heise cross, and then the home side netted again through Roberts.

Despite the Canaries threatening to complete the comeback, the Baggies held strong and with five minutes to play Asomugha hit a low strike to secure the victory for the visitors.

ALBION: House; Meredith, Fitzwater, Martinez, Harmon; Harper, Azaz (Wilding 69); Clayton-Phillips, Tulloch (Brown 85), Willock; Soule (Asomugha 73).
