Hull City Ladies 2 Albion Women 1

Albion Women’s five-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat against Hull City Ladies.

The home side started the better, with the Tigresses’ Helen Lynskey striking the crossbar in the first ten minutes.

In the closing stages of a tightly-fought first period, Hull earned a penalty after Bethan Jewitt was adjudged to have brought down Emily Smith in the area.

Rachael Ackroyd stepped up for the hosts and put them in front from the spot before the interval.

Albion came out for the second half and equalised shortly after the hour mark, Jade Arber firing a low shot past Hull goalkeeper Sharla Cone to bring the scores level.

The Baggies were dealt a blow in the 72nd minute, as Trina Greaves was shown a straight red card for dissent after not being awarded a foul.

Just ten minutes later, Albion were reduced to nine players after Fran Orthodoxou was given her marching orders after bringing down Lynskey in the area who was through on goal.

Ackroyd once again converted from the spot, giving her team the lead with ten minutes remaining.

Late into the game, Albion came within inches of a leveller as Keeley Davies’ long-range effort cannoned back off the crossbar.

The result leaves Albion seventh in the National League Northern Premier League.
