Ahead of Albion’s trip to the bet365 Stadium on Monday night, take a look back at a memorable encounter against the Potters in 2012 as a last-gasp Graham Dorrans free-kick ended the Baggies’ 30-year wait for a win at Stoke.
James Morrison’s early strike was tipped onto the bar by Stoke ‘keeper Thomas Sørensen, but the Baggies midfielder fired Albion ahead just after the half-hour mark with a strike from outside the box.
In the second half Morrison saw a volley from outside the box crash against the post, before Gareth McAuley tripped Jonathan Walters, earning the hosts a penalty. However, Ben Foster made a diving save to maintain Albion’s lead.
With four minutes to play Jermaine Pennant lofted a free-kick into the box with Cameron Jerome rising high to head home and restore parity.
But the late drama continued. The Throstles won a free-kick from 25 yards out, which Dorrans curled through a crowd of bodies in the box and into the back of the net, sparking scenes of jubilation in the away end.
