Dwight discusses gong

Dwight Gayle is delighted to have won the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for April.

Albion’s 23-goal forward scored six goals in as many games during the month including a hattrick against Preston North End in a 4-1 win for the Baggies.

Gayle also bagged a brace against Hull City and scored against Bristol City, in a month that Albion recorded three victories at home from three games.

And Dwight attributed a portion of his success during the month to his teammates.

“It’s nice to win the award,” said Dwight.

“I have got to give a big thank you to my teammates as a lot of my goals have come from in the six-yard box, so there’s a lot of great passes and great assists from the team.

“I want to be scoring as many goals as I can to help the team out and luckily this month was one of the months that I managed to score a few.

“Getting a hattrick is nice and I’m going to have the ball to remember it by and hopefully I can get another one before the season finishes.

“We know it’s going to be tough. We struggled against them earlier in the season and we know that they are a very good side and they are pushing for the Play-Offs themselves.

"We know it is going to be tough, but we need to put a good performance out before we go into the Play-Offs to give us that bit of confidence.”
