Furlong lured by ‘crazy ambition’

Darnell Furlong admits the “crazy ambition” shown by the Club proved crucial in securing his services from QPR.

The 23-year-old full-back, who joins on a four-year deal, insists he was happy playing his football at Loftus Road but the lure of Albion’s promotion challenge was an opportunity too good to turn down.

Furlong, the Baggies fourth signing of the summer, is determined to seize his chance and impress Head Coach Slaven Bilic.

He said: “I first heard about the move a couple of days ago.

“I think it’s unusual for things to move so quickly like they have done over the last couple of days, so credit to both Albion and QPR.

“The club has crazy ambitions. It needs to get back to where it should be.

“I’m delighted to be a part of it. I was happy at QPR, but this is a new challenge and I’m loving the ambition shown by the club.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the new manager and seeing how things go. I want to do well here.

“I’ve had a brief chat with the manager, but I’m looking forward to having a more in-depth chat with him in the coming days.

“It’s another playing style and that’s something which I can use to add to my game.

“There’s an ambition for this club to get back to the Premier League and I’m excited to be part of this challenge.”
