Johnstone on Baggies triumph over Trotters

Sam Johnstone paid tribute to a professional Albion performance as they saw off Bolton Wanderers 2-0 on Monday night.

The Baggies triumphed courtesy of goals in either half from Jay Rodriguez and Sam Field, ensuring they have now tasted defeat just once in their last 12 Sky Bet Championship fixtures.

Johnstone was called upon to make impressive reflex saves to keep out Sammy Ameobi and Jason Lowe, among others, as Albion registered a clean sheet and claimed all three points.

Speaking post-match, Johnstone said: "It was tough, very tough. We knew it was going to be difficult, very physical.

"It wasn't the best pitch, the weather, there were a lot of distractions and I thought we fought very hard to get the result."

Johnstone also hailed the Baggies supporters who made the trip to the University of Bolton Stadium to get behind Darren Moore's side.

"They're massive for us, thanks to the fans who travelled here on a cold, dark Monday night and supported us," added the Albion 'keeper.

"It wasn't pretty, we got the win and we're thankful for them travelling."
