Darren’s disappointment as nine-game unbeaten run ends

DARREN Moore spoke of his disappointment after seeing his side suffer their first defeat in 10 Sky Bet Championship games at Blackburn Rovers.

Two quick-fire goals at the start of the second half were enough to seal the three points for Rovers despite Jay Rodriguez’s strike from the spot shortly after.

Moore admitted the game was a “dogged” contest but also stressed the importance of maintaining the positivity brought about by an impressive run of recent form.

“We’re obviously disappointed to lose because we wanted to come here and continue our form. But sadly it wasn’t to be,” he said.

“The game was a dogged one and both teams cancelled each other out until Blackburn got their two early goals after the break.

“We had to respond and thanks to Jay’s penalty we managed to make it an intense finish. Unfortunately we just couldn’t get that second goal.

“We’ve been pleased with the improvement of the squad and also our performances and results in our recent run of games.

“Now we have a very important cup match on Saturday and we need to try and respond to this disappointment.”
