Barry: It’s time to be ruthless

Gareth Barry says Albion must find a “ruthless” streak and put a run of victories together that can propel Darren Moore’s men into the Sky Bet Championship promotion places.

The Baggies fell to just their second defeat in 13 league games at The Hawthorns on Saturday and are seven points off joint-leaders Leeds United and Norwich City, with a game in hand.

And the former Premier League winner admits Albion’s target remains focused on a top-two finish with 17 games remaining.

Barry said: “Our target is to go on a run of games, that’s not just drawing and going unbeaten, we need to go on a run of winning games - whether that be four, five, six wins.

“We need to breed confidence and, if you do put a run like that together, you know that will shoot you right up and you’re going to be in those top two positions.

“We’ve got to be ruthless and take that approach.

“I’d be surprised if a team does run away with it because of how results have gone this season - there isn’t a stand out team like there have been in previous seasons.

“For me, let’s make that our target, let it be us that puts that run together.

“There are a lot of games left and we’re right in the mix. Our target is still to get the top two, we’re not thinking about the play-offs. At the end of the season we want to be in that top two.”
