Gilbert’s youngsters in positive place ahead of FA Youth Cup tie

Peter Gilbert says there’s lots of positives Albion Under-18s can take into their FA Youth Cup Third Round clash against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night (ko 7pm).

The young Baggies will be looking to follow in the footsteps of last season’s semi-finalists, with recent victories against Liverpool and Manchester United providing confidence ahead of the tie.

And Gilbert believes his team are in a positive position as they head into the game.

“We’re in a good place at the moment,” said Gilbert.

“There’s lots of positives, lots of good performances and lots of good competition for places. It’s all positive at the moment. 

“We’ve had wins in recent weeks against Liverpool and Manchester United, so that gives us confidence, which we will need to show as it will be a tough game against Scunthorpe.

“The FA Youth Cup is a great competition and it will be exciting for the lads to play at The Hawthorns on Tuesday, so we’re looking forward to it and we will be hoping for a positive result.”
