Trio called up for England duty

Albion are today celebrating a terrific trio of call-ups for England Under-20 duty.

Nathan Ferguson’s reward for his eye-catching breakthrough into Slaven Bilic’s first-team plans this season is recognised with a call-up for games against the Netherlands and Switzerland during the forthcoming international break.

Alongside him will be rising young goalkeeper Josh Griffiths, while Jonathan Leko’s reward for his sparkling early form on loan at Charlton sees him included as well.

Baggies fans don’t have far to travel if they want to take a look for themselves at our boys in Under-20 action for the national team.

The game against the Netherlands goes ahead on Thursday, September 5 at Shrewsbury’s Montgomery Waters Meadow (ko 7pm).

The double-header is completed with the Swiss game at the Stadion Rankhof in Basel on Monday, September 9.

Albion have also had a number of other players selected for international duty in September. Semi Ajayi is going away with Nigeria, Matt Phillips has been picked by Scotland and Dara O’Shea will join up with Ireland’s Under-21s.
