Burton looks ahead to Old Trafford experience for PL2 side

Albion’s Premier League 2 assistant coach Deon Burton is excited for his young Baggies to embrace the experience of stepping out onto the Old Trafford turf when they face Manchester United on Friday night (ko 7pm).

The Throstles could go within two points of the Red Devils in the Premier League 2 Division Two table with a win and Deon thinks the opportunity to play at the Theatre of Dreams is one the young Baggies will relish.

“It’s a great chance to play at Old Trafford,” he said.

"What a stadium. Hopefully it’s the first of many trips there for them. To experience it at this young age first time round is a good opportunity for them to show what they have got.

“It was a good game against Fulham in our last match, so I am thoroughly looking forward to the opportunity again on Friday up at Manchester United.

“We know how they play. They play 4-3-3 and you know what you’re going to get when you play a Man United team - they’ll have lots of possession.

“I don’t think they have had too much of a good run over recent times, just looking at the stats over the last few games so hopefully we can get at them.

“With the majority of our players being from our under-18s FA Youth Cup journey, hopefully they can put in a good performance after unfortunately not making it through to the final on Monday.

“They are young lads, they are eager to go. They only part-trained this morning and some of them were eager to carry on for the full session. They are willing and ready to go again so I am sure that they will be full steam ahead on Friday night.”
