Moore: Younger players will benefit

DARREN Moore insists the experience of coming up against Premier League players will be highly beneficial for his younger squad members.

Academy graduates Sam Field and Rekeem Harper both played 90 minutes, while Kyle Howkins and Kyle Edwards both appeared off the bench during Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup clash with Crystal Palace at The Hawthorns.

And the Baggies boss says the promising youngsters will have learnt plenty from the occasion.

Moore said: “We came up against a very good team in Crystal Palace.

“We are trying to utilise the squad as best as we can. You look at the fixtures and it is a relentless schedule.

“The minutes and the experience that the younger players got will be vital.

“They will benefit from coming up against Premier League players.

“The speed, the precision, the accuracy and the intelligence. All those things will help them.

“In terms of their development and the levels needed, that was great for them.”
