DWIGHT Gayle admits his stunning opener in today’s victory over Stoke City is right up there with the best of his career.
The skilful striker provided a sublime turn and classy finish to put the Baggies ahead, before doubling the lead with a half-volley from Jake Livermore’s excellent forward ball.
And Dwight says his first goal was inspired by a certain Andrés Iniesta.
“Just from the way I took it, it’s probably up there with my best, it’s my favourite one I’d have to say.
“Me and my mate were talking about Iniesta’s goal a few weeks ago and saying how good it was. The touch was similar to what he did and he took on the goalkeeper so you might say it’s similar but I wouldn’t say it was as good.
“The second was a miss-hit,” he laughed.
“I was just trying to hit the target and luckily it’s gone in.
“The boys have been fantastic in helping me settle in and if I keep getting service like then I’ll be a happy man.”
