ALBION rolled out the red carpet for one of The Hawthorns’ original executive box-holders on Tuesday evening.
Mary Evans celebrated her 103rd birthday by returning to her old stomping ground more than 40 years after purchasing Box Seven in the old Rainbow Stand.
Baggies legends Brendon Batson, Ally Robertson and Garry Thompson were on hand to welcome the great-grandmother to The Hawthorns for the first time since the early 1990s.
Mary was delighted to see her old Albion favourites, even if they have changed a little over the years.
“It’s been 25 years since I was last at The Hawthorns and it’s been nice to come back and see the players again, they still look lovely even without hair,” Mary quipped.
“I knew I was coming to the stadium and I was so looking forward to it but every little minute has been fantastic with all the people I got to spend the day with and getting to see the pitch again. Thank you to everyone who organised this for me.
“I’ve had a wonderfully happy life. Of course, I have my family around me and I’ve got all my little great grandchildren as well as grandchildren who look after me so well.”
