Barnes on life at Albion

HARVEY Barnes says he is flourishing at Albion after forging a strong bond with his Hawthorns team-mates and coaching staff.

The 20-year-old has only been with the Baggies for six weeks but has already made a huge impression, netting two stunning goals in Darren Moore’s new-look attacking line-up.

Barnes & Co have continued to work throughout the international break with their sights already set on next week’s Friday night trip to Birmingham City.

And the on-loan Leicester City playmaker insists his confidence and the team’s performances will improve further as they take time to hone their skills at the Palm Training Ground.

“I have definitely progressed a lot,” admits Barnes.

“From the first game of the season, as a team and personally, I feel like we have progressed a lot.

“I feel a lot more comfortable in the side and a lot more confident. I think as a team we feel more confident as well. I think that shows in our performances recently.

“I think we are settling into the new system which has taken some adapting for me as well because I’m sort of playing in a different position to what I’m used to.

“It’s only been a month or so but I feel like I’ve progressed.

“It’s a nice place with lovely facilities. The team’s great and the boys are great. You don’t always know how these things are going to pan out but, for me, it couldn’t have gone much better. I feel I’ve settled in really well.

He added: “I get on with the coaching staff really well - it’s hard not to get on with them really.

“They are all such lovely guys and as a team and a staff there’s a really good bond.

“We know when to have a laugh but we also know when the hard work starts that everyone has to be concentrating 100 per cent on that.”
