Smith eyes more Checkatrade success

JAMIE Smith wants his under-23 side to build on their opening-game victory at Blackpool when they travel to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.

The Baggies picked up their first victory in the Checkatrade Trophy last month courtesy of a 2-1 win over the Tangerines at Bloomfield Road.

In a competition which gives our youngsters "valuable experience", the Premier League 2 boss is eyeing another scalp at the Wham Stadium.

Jamie said: "It's another real challenge for them but it'll be more valuable experience against a first-team side.

"At Blackpool we had to defend a lot of direct balls and a lot of balls into our box, which you don't always get at under-23 level.

"It was a real physical test for the players and one they stood up to really well.

"We're expecting more of the same tomorrow and we're looking forward to it."

Seats are priced at £5 adults/concessions/under-17s and £2 under-12s.
