Palmer joins Oldham on loan

ALEX Palmer has joined Oldham Athletic on emergency loan.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper will be providing cover at Boundary Park until Friday, November 22.

The Latics host Cambridge United in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday but will be without their No.1 Daniel Iversen who has been called up by Denmark Under-21s.

The Academy graduate has moved his way up the goalkeeping pecking order over the last couple of seasons.

After consecutive loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers in 2015, the youngster made 11 appearances for the National League side before returning to his parent club.

After injury to Boaz Myhill in November 2016, the young stopper was named on the bench for Albion's Premier League clashes with Burnley, Hull City and Watford.

Alex then put pen to paper on a new-and-improved contract at The Hawthorns which keeps him with the Baggies until 2019.

He represented England at Under-16 level four times, with his most recent appearance coming against France in April 2012.

Alex was a key part of Albion's Premier League 2 side in the 2017/18 season and was also on the first-team bench a handful of times.
