Gibbs excited by ‘crazy’ Championship

KIERAN Gibbs says it’s an “exciting” time to be involved in the “crazy” Sky Bet Championship.

The midweek schedule saw 40 goals netted in 12 fixtures, at an average of 3.3 per game, with Albion recording a 2-1 win at Swansea on Wednesday.

Baggies fans have witnessed more goals than any other side, with 68 goals in their 19 games thus far, netting a league-high 41 in the process.

And Gibbs admits he’s enjoying every minute of the campaign with Darren Moore’s men now turning their focus to a Hawthorns double-header against Brentford and Aston Villa.

“This league is pretty crazy when you look at the results that happen each week,” he said.

“It’s a very exciting time to be involved in this league.

“It’s enjoyable to be a part of and we enjoyed the three points on Wednesday.

“We were satisfied with Swansea. We showed a different way of winning and it is a huge win.

“Not only is it a difficult place to go, it also comes off the back of another away win at Ipswich.

“It’s always nice to get back-to-back away wins. It could prove three vital points come the end of the season.

“I thought we were a lot better second-half and I actually felt a bit for Swansea because I’ve been there. Let’s be honest, they dominated a lot of the first half and they’ve been sucker-punched by two set-pieces.

“This is football and this league is unforgiving. I thought the way we played in the second half was different to the first and I thought we controlled it more.

“It just shows that we have the quality there and we just need to find the right times to play and manage the game.”
