Moore outlines battle plan

DARREN Moore insists his squad must be equipped to deal with the many challenges of a Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Speaking at his unveiling as Head Coach, Darren outlined his football philosophy and what he believes is required to succeed in English football’s second tier.

Moore won promotion to the Premier League on four occasions as a player - twice with the Baggies - during his 20-year career.

And the new Albion gaffer says his players will need to be mentally and physically prepared for a “relentless” season.

“There are another 23 clubs in the Championship preparing for a gruelling, relentless season,” he said.

“There are plenty of hurdles to overcome. To overcome those challenges we’ll need to be at our best as a football club. I’m looking forward to it.

“I understand the challenges that lie ahead. I’ve played a lot of games in the Championship. It's about getting us ready for those challenges that will soon be upon us.

“The ambition is to keep moving this club forward. Every team is vying for the special prize of promotion.

Moore added: “I want to build a team that has different dimensions to it. The fans can expect a team that will play attractive football but also a team that’s willing to fight and scrap for every ball.

“There’s many different challenges but we need to create a team that can be prepared for those challenges. We will need to be mentally and physically prepared.

“I’ll be speaking to the players at some point this week and discussing things with them. They’re all contracted to West Bromwich Albion so the first thing for me is to speak to them individually.”
