Moore on Spurs clash, nominations and survival battle

DARREN Moore met the media on Friday morning at Palm Training Ground ahead of Albion’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at The Hawthorns.

Here’s what the big man had to say on…

The survival battle…

"What we are doing here is just focusing on the next game.

"Anything else that happens away from that then the media will comment on it, I can’t manage that.

"We’ve hit some good form recently and we want to continue that.

"We are focusing on putting in a good performance on Saturday and hopefully that will mean we get a good result."

His nomination for Manager of the Month…

"All I am doing is playing my part in a team of people here at West Bromwich Albion Football Club.

"I’m up here speaking on behalf of the Club.

"It’s great to be nominated and I am really honoured to be nominated alongside the calibre of managers who have also received nominations.

"I’ll share the nomination with everyone here at West Bromwich Albion because of the tremendous work that everyone has done behind the scenes.

"I can speak because I have seen the work that has gone on behind the scenes.

"We continue to keep working."

Ben Foster’s praise…

"Support from anywhere is excellent really.

"It’s excellent to have it from players and staff within.

"It shows that we are supporting each other and continuing to support each other.

"We support each other and we value each other and that is a message the whole Club has echoed.

"People have brought their positive characters into work and that’s what we have had in recent weeks and that’s what we want in the future.

"To have support, from any department of the Club, has to be a positive."

Jake Livermore’s Player of the Month nomination…

"I’m delighted for Jake. I’m really, really pleased for him.

"His performances have showed why he has been nominated – he’s been absolutely excellent.

"He’s a fantastic player and a fantastic man.

"We want him to continue showing that form right the way through to the end of the season.

"Obviously here at West Bromwich Albion, we want to see him go to that World Cup and represent his country.

"He is right on track for that and long may it continue.

"He is a strong individual, but he is also a team player and considers others before himself."

The threat of Harry Kane and Spurs…

"He’s an excellent player.

"I’m sure if Harry was up here now he would be saying that a lot of his fortune comes from having wonderful players around him who contribute to his effectiveness.

"We all know the threat he possesses.

"On Saturday we are going to have to be at our very best to deal with Harry and also his team-mates around him.

"He will be a difficult opponent.

"He knows his own body and he’ll tell you he has come back from injury because he feels fit enough to do so.

"Spurs are a top team and it’s going to be a really difficult test for us, however, we are really looking forward to the game."

Team news…

"We’ve got more or less a full-strength squad to choose from for the game against Spurs on Saturday.

"The only two that will be missing are James Morrison and Gareth Barry.

"Apart from those two everyone is available for selection."
