Moore to lead in the same vein

DARREN Moore says he will begin his reign as Albion Head Coach in the same vein he approached the final six games of last season.

The Baggies boss recorded three wins and two draws during his time as caretaker, with his impressive foray into management earning him the top job at The Hawthorns.

Moore and his players are now preparing for the new Sky Bet Championship season with a six-day training camp in Portugal.

And the gaffer is confident his approach to leadership will bring the best out of the players as they continue to work towards the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign.

“It feels to me very much the same - all that has changed is the job title” said Darren.

“I’ll continue in the same manner and in the same vein as I approached it last season.

“There is a lot to be put in and a lot of work ahead of us but we’ll approach that day-by-day and week-by-week during this pre-season to make sure we are mentally and physically right for the first game.”

That game - against Bolton Wanderers at The Hawthorns on Saturday, August 4 - is now just 39 days away.

But Darren, who took the decision to begin the Club’s pre-season schedule a week earlier than in previous years, has every confidence his players will be in prime condition come August.

“Having looked at the condition and shape of all the players, they look great,” he added.

“In the couple of sessions we’ve had so far the early signs have been absolutely fantastic.

“The concentration and commitment from the group has been excellent. It’s been great thus far and long may that continue.

“The first week of pre-season is the base for the season ahead so it’s really, really important.”
