Albion to make Pittodrie trip

ALBION can today confirm a fourth pre-season fixture - and a reunion with the Club’s former captain Derek McInnes.

Head Coach Darren Moore will take the senior squad up to Pittodrie to face McInnes's Aberdeen side just five days before the SPL outfit begin their Europa Cup campaign.

The match goes ahead on Friday, July 20 with a 7.30pm kick off and fits into a schedule which also includes visits to Barnet (July 7, 3pm), Swindon (July 14, 3pm) and Barnsley (July 24, 7.30pm).

Darren is now looking to finish off the pre-season programme - which will also include a couple of non-fixture, fitness-focused training camps in Portugal and Scotland - with a final warm-up game on July 28. The Club hope to bring details of this fixture next week.

But the trip to Aberdeen, and a reunion with his old promotion-winning skipper, is one Darren believes will be perfect for the Baggies preparations.

"Of course it will be great to see Derek again but more importantly, it will be a top work-out for our boys," he said.

"The match will be Aberdeen's final warm-up before their Europa League campaign begins and they will be at full tilt. It will be a really challenging test for us at that stage of our preparations and just what we need."
