Darren delighted with 'perfect' workout

DARREN Moore has thanked Barnet Football Club for their part in giving Albion the 'perfect' workout in the first game of pre-season.

Albion ran out 3-0 winners at The Hive London in sweltering heat as they stepped up their search for fitness ahead of the start of the Championship season in August.

He said: "It was a great game and occasion in excellent facilities. We thank Barnet Football Club for their help in preparing us for the campaign ahead.

"I was pleased with the performance and the minutes on the pitch. When you play a game of football your legs can tire, your mind can tire because you've done so much running.

"It was difficult conditions so we saw some of the senior players show their experience in how and when to use the ball. There's no way you can keep up a high tempo in conditions like that.

"We were against a fresh, energetic Barnet team in tough conditions. In terms of the workout, it was perfect."

Goals from Kyle Edwards and Hal Robson-Kanu (2) secured a comfortable win for the Baggies. And the gaffer heaped praise on the young midfielder after his sumptuous opening goal.

"Kyle's come back for pre-season looking very, very good," Darren nodded.

"His gameplay, his sharpness, his technical ability is very good. He's certainly started our schedule very well.

"He's reaping the rewards of last season. If anyone wants to see what loans can do then look at Kyle. Jack Fitzwater, too. He's starting to look like a defender, the way he uses his body and talks to people.

"It just goes to show how much you learn by going away and playing football."
