Barry on 'fantastic' Sturridge impact

GARETH Barry believes Daniel Sturridge could be a key piece of the Albion puzzle between now and the end of the season.

The England international has both a start and a substitute appearance to his name since being brought in on loan from Liverpool last month, and Barry has nothing but praise for impression he has made on the Baggies squad so far.

“He’s been really good. He’s really brought a bit of life into the changing room,” said Barry.

“A big name like Daniel coming in, with what he’s done in his career so far and the amount of goals he scores, to be working with him has been fantastic for everyone.

“We’re hopeful he can hit the ground running, starting with one of his old clubs on Monday night, and then get some goals between now and the end of the season.

“They’re going to be vital for us to get us where we want to be.”

Barry himself has also been in the limelight lately after surpassing 650 Premier League appearances, but the midfielder admitted his mind isn’t really focussed on individual accolades at the moment.

“It was nice to get to that Premier League record because there had been a lot of talk, but the one recently no,” he added.

“It’s all about West Brom and the situation we’re in as a team, so maybe that’s something I can look back on at the end of the season when the job is done.”
