‘The Hawthorns will be rocking’ - Phillips

MATTY Phillips expects The Hawthorns to be “rocking” when Albion host Aston Villa on Friday night (ko 8pm).

It is the Baggies’ first meeting with the Villans in almost three years, with both sides now in a rich vein of form at the top end of the Sky Bet Championship.

Darren Moore’s men remain the league’s highest scorers with 42 - but Villa are hot on his side’s heels on 39.

And Phillips admits all the ingredients are in situ for a memorable local derby.

“I’m excited and I’m sure The Hawthorns will be rocking,” he said.

“We’ll of course be looking to get three points on the board.

“As with any game we’ll need to start well. If we create half as many chances as we did on Monday then we’ll be tucking them away.

“We’ll go into the game looking at ourselves to make sure we’re right as a team. That’s all that matters.

“It’s a big game for the fans and a big game for the players. We’ll look to go and put another strong performance in and come away with three points.

“It’s massive for the club and we all know that, so we’ll be back on the training pitch, and looking forward to the game.”
