10 December 2018

TROUBLE broke out in the form of a players’ revolt as ten members of the first team squad went on strike in protest at manager Jimmy Hagan’s training methods, and his refusal to allow the players to wear tracksuits in the icy weather.

Ray Potter, Don Howe, Graham Williams, Doug Fraser, Stan Jones, John Kaye, Bobby Hope, Ronnie Fenton, Terry Simpson – who had played for Hagan at Peterborough United - and Clive Clark put in a mass transfer request.
