‘It was a kick in the teeth’ - Phillips

MATT Phillips says that on another night Albion walk away from Monday’s 1-1 draw against Brentford with all three points.

The Baggies created a host of chances at The Hawthorns - recording 23 shots at goal including Harvey Barnes’ 77th-minute opener - but were ultimately left frustrated by a stoppage-time Bees equaliser.

Phillips admits it was a disappointing evening for Darren Moore’s men but is confident there are enough “big characters” in the dressing room to move on quickly.

“In the first half we created plenty of chances and we were playing well,” said the Scotland international.

“It was a bit of a kick in the teeth that we only take a point from the game but it’s another point towards our final target.

“The most disappointing thing is that we had so many chances in the first half.

“There were enough chances to win the game but this is a difficult league.

“It’s pleasing that we’re creating the chances and the lads are big enough characters to move on and look to Friday. On another day we come away with plenty of goals.

“We have another game on Friday night so we’ll take the point and move on.”
