Stars in Stripes forever

WE will be presenting the Albion caps as curtain raisers to kick-off at all our Championship games at The Hawthorns this season - starting against Bolton Wanderers.

Today sees two Albion legends - and former Bolton boys - 'Super Bob' Taylor and Richard Sneekes step out to receive their caps before kick-off against the Trotters.

As founder members of the Football League some 130 years ago, we're marking that special piece of history by introducing a special initiative whereby everyone who has played a league game for the club will be rewarded with a bespoke cap.

Featuring the original club crest dating back to 1884, the caps are all numbered according to the player's debut, from number 1, the great Billy Bassett himself through to number 912, whose identity we will only discover when Darren Moore hands in his teamsheet on Saturday afternoon, and beyond.

The first recipients of the caps were the 1968 FA Cup winning team who received their caps at the 50th anniversary dinner held at The Hawthorns back in May this year

Bob is number 641 in the sequence while Richard will receive cap number 682. And as if that wasn't enough, these two Albion heroes will receive their caps from another, Blind Dave Heeley doing the honours for us.

It all takes place around 2.45pm, so make sure you're in your seat to watch us celebrate.
