Skipper reflects on Brighton defeat

JONNY Evans says Albion gave themselves a “mountain to climb” in today’s 3-1 defeat at Brighton.

The Baggies conceded either side of half-time at the Amex Stadium before Tomer Hemed made it three just after the hour mark.

James Morrison gave Tony Pulis men a glimmer of hope late on but skipper Evans insists there was too much to do.

“It’s not like us to concede like that,” said the Northern Ireland international.

“The timing of the goals wasn’t great, especially before the break.

“The manager said that to us at the end of the game.

“We gave ourselves too much of a mountain to climb to get back into it.

“The introduction of Mozza and Oli gave us some fresh legs and more of an attacking threat going forward but it was too late by then.”
