Pulis on Barry, Bilic and the Hammers

TONY Pulis this morning addressed the press ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture against West Ham United at The Hawthorns (ko 3pm). Tony discussed a range of topics from Gareth Barry and Nacer Chadli, to Slaven Bilic’s Hammers.

On Gareth Barry equaling Ryan Giggs’ Premier League appearance record…

"It’s a wonderful achievement. I have always rated him as a player but you don’t realise how good he is until you actually work with him. He’s been absolutely fantastic for us and he’s been our best player in nearly all the games we’ve played so far.”

On response to Brighton defeat…

“The players have been good.

“Complacency is a word I don’t like. There’s always a little bit around after you’ve done well and that has to be eradicated. We’ve had a very good start to the season and we have been brought down to earth with a pretty average performance.”

On Slaven Bilic and West Ham…

“They are a good side and I have a lot of time for Slaven and when you look at the squad and what they have got it’s a very strong Premier League side.”

“When you look at Ayew and Lanzini who didn’t start that game, players of that ilk, around the group, they’ve paid a lot of money for, Arnautovic, who didn’t start either. So they’ve got a lot of match-winners so they might be where they are at the moment, but I don’t expect them to stay there.”
