Phillips: I walk in with a smile on my face

MATT Phillips is loving life at The Hawthorns and admits he walks through the training ground doors with a big smile on his face every day.

The winger, who missed large parts of the second half of the 2016/17 campaign with a hamstring injury, is back in full swing having started all five of Albion’s games this season.

Phillips is high on confidence thanks to the guidance of Tony Pulis, but is also eager to keep improving under the Baggies boss.

He said: “I am really enjoying my football right now.

“Every day I am walking through the door with a smile on my face and I think that’s when you get the best out of yourself.

“I have a manager that believes in me and has improved me a player.

“He’s improved my fitness. On and off the ball I feel I know the game a lot better now.

“I still want to learn and I’m eager to improve my game.

“I feel as though I am doing that here."
