Leko & Harper lapping up league experience

JONATHAN Leko and Rekeem Harper have opened up about their EFL loan moves following a progress report at Albion’s Palm Training Ground earlier this week.

The youngsters are gaining valuable experience at Bristol City (Championship) and Blackburn Rovers (League One) respectively, with both teams challenging at the top end of their league tables.

Leko has made seven appearances for the Robins since joining in August. And the youngster has been pleased with his contribution to a campaign that has seen City lose just two of their first 13 league games.

“I’m really enjoying it down there. I feel like the whole place is good and the environment is really good for me," said Jonathan.

“It’s a tough league so it’s been a challenge. But I’m relishing it and I think I’ve done well so far.

“Apart from the result on Saturday we’ve been on a good run. We hadn’t lost in something like 12 games so it was just a little setback and we need to bounce back in our next game.”

Harper's Rovers have also made a good start to the season, winning seven of 13 games in League One.

And although Rekeem picked up an injury after an impressive debut in September, the midfielder is confident of putting that behind him and making his mark in league football.

“My aim is to get back in the team now that I’ve come back from my injury.

“Hopefully now I can get as many games in as possible and keep pushing for a starting spot.

“It’s been a bit of a new experience for me so far because I’m away, not with my family at home.

“I’m in a really professional environment at a big club, and there’s a lot of pressure to do well.

“I’m learning how to deal with pressure from the senior players, because they are just keeping their focus and working really hard in training - and that’s something that I feel I mentally needed pick up on so I can get that in my game.”
