Tottenham v Albion match report

ALBION claimed a impressive Premier League point as they secured a 1-1 Wembley draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Salomon Rondon's composed finish across the face of goal in just the fourth minute handed the Baggies a dream start and looked to have ultimately proved the difference until Harry Kane's 74th-minute leveller.

The creditable 1-1 draw, a fourth in the last five meetings between the two sides, ended Albion's run of four successive defeats - in front of 3,500 travelling supporters in what was the club's first return to the national stadium since 2008.

Assistant Head Coach Gary Megson took charge of Albion for the first time since 2004 following the departure of Tony Pulis earlier this week.

And he made two changes as he recalled 19-year-old Academy graduate Sam Field - who enjoyed a superb return in the middle of the park - along with defender Allan Nyom.

And it was Albion who stunned the home faithful early on when Jake Livermore fed Rondon, who shrugged off Davinson Sanchez to coolly slot home low into the far corner past a stationary Hugo Lloris.

Kane fired narrowly wide in the 27th minute before Heung-Min Son tested Foster with low strike shortly after.

Yet Albion's lead remained intact at the break, Foster safely collecting an Eric Dier header while Son flashed a ball across the face of goal and looped an effort on to the roof of the net before the interval.

Matt Phillips rifled a shot just wide of the of the far post in the 55th minute while Dele Alli came close to latching on to Kieran Trippier's drive at the other end.

Yet Kane poked home Dele's low cross with 16 minutes remaining to ensure Albion were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

Rondon could have stolen it at the end for the Baggies, but he diverted Phillips' low cross wide of the mark with seconds to play.

ALBION: Foster, Nyom, Hegazi, Evans (c), Gibbs, Phillips, Livermore, Barry (Yacob 79), Field (McClean 67), Rodriguez (Robson-Kanu 67), Rondon.

Subs: Myhill, McAuley, Krychowiak, Burke.
