Megson: He can have a top-class career

GARY Megson says Sam Field will continue to improve after an impressive outing at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The Hagley-born youngster played just over an hour in Albion's 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur and was voted by Baggies fans as their 'Man of the Match' at the national stadium.

And Megson was full of praise for the midfielder as he addressed the media ahead of the clash with Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.

"Given the circumstances I thought he did very well," said Gary.

"If he can just grow into himself in terms of confidence and get that little bit of belief in himself it wouldn't surprise me if he goes on to have a real top-class career.

"He's big, he can run and he's got a great left foot. He's one of the best two-footed players I've seen and he's got a great amount going for him.

"For a midfield player he's got to be getting up there and scoring - he can finish - and getting back and doing his stuff on the other side."
